As a general organic synthesis intermediate, N-center radical has been widely used in the construction of high-value organic compounds.Therefore, the development of new nitrogen free radical species and the exploration of its new reaction mode have long been concerned by synthetic chemists.So far, most of the photocatalytic nitrogen radicals have been concentrated in four types: amide nitrogen radical, dialkyl nitrogen radical, nitrogen radical cation and imine nitrogen radical.However, there are two main challenges in the study of the reactivity of aromatic heterocyclic nitrogen (AHN) free radicals in synthetic pharmaceutical active intermediates.Therefore, how to efficiently produce various aromatic heterocyclic nitrogen radicals has long been an important challenge.
Recently, Zhang Xiaheng's research team at the Hangzhou Institute of Advanced Studies published a research report entitled "Generation of Aromatic N-Heterocyclic Radiology for Functionalization of Unactivated Alkenes" in the journal German Applied Chemistry.In this paper, pyridine salt was used as a precursor of aromatic heterocyclic nitrogen (AHN) free radicals, and a new strategy for generating various AHN free radicals was developed.
Furthermore, disulfide and diethyl bromomalonate were used as free radical quenching agents to realize the diversity bifunctionalization of inactivated olefins, including thiamine and bromine.In addition, some application transformations of brominated products have been carried out.Alkylation, acylation, arylation and trifluoromethylation of alkyl bromide were achieved under visible light redox conditions.
This work not only provides a new idea for the production and application of aromatic heterocyclic nitrogen radicals, but also provides a new perspective for the rapid construction of nitrogenous heterocyclic skeletons.
